- advanced manufacturing techniques: creating new manufacturing processes and technologies that are more sustainable, efficient, flexible, and cost-effective
- digital twin technology: improving design and production, and enhancing understanding of complex systems, cross-sectorial needs and impact, from construction through to medical systems
- product design optimisation: developing new tools and techniques for optimising product design and to assess value
- smart design and manufacturing: integrating advanced technologies (sensors, data analytics, artificial intelligence) into the design and manufacture process
